Listened to my issue, he explained it thoroughly and the options with pros and cons. I'm happy with the results as I'm pain free and my shoulder movement is at approx 95% and with continuing physio I should be at 100% soon.

Mr Geoghegan was efficient in every way possible, always explained thinks clearly in regards to procedures and expectations of how long my recovery would take. He was very polite and friendly and put me at my ease and I highly recommend him. I am extremely satisfied with my results. Many thanks to his secretary too for the numerous calls I made to her, she was very kind and patient and actually made me laugh a few times when I tried to pay a bill !!

I cant thank Mr Geoghegan enough .. right from my first visit he was so professional yet listened understood and was very clear and factual. He was always to the point and made sure I understood everything. He was so quick to diagnose my issue and promptly safely got my treatment sorted, via surgery and now physio. Every appointment was on time and Mr Geoghegan was caring at all times. Highly recommended Consultant .. Thank you so much ..............

From my first consultation with Mr Geoghegan I felt totally at ease, his professional and friendly manner is very reassuring. Mr Geoghegan listened to my symptoms and following an X-ray he suggested I had a MRI scan which confirmed his diagnosis for the requirement of a total reverse shoulder replacement. I had thought I would only need a Rotator Cuff repair so the shoulder replacement was unexpected. Mr Geoghegan went to great lengths in explaining the procedure to me and asked me to take some time to digest the information and let his secretary Nikki know if I decided to proceed. I decided to go ahead and returned to see Mr Geoghegan at his clinic, I asked more questions, which were answered and fully explained, despite this being a second time for some of the questions! My surgery was carried out 6 weeks ago and I have made a remarkable recovery, I am free of pain and have regained a considerable amount of mobility in my shoulder which will continue to improve with physiotherapy. I cannot speak highly enough of Mr Geoghegan’s pleasant demeanour who, along with his team put me at total ease prior to and during and after my procedure. Mr Geoghegan is available for any discussions I may need in between my clinic visits. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I was appointed Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2009. My sub-specialty is shoulder and elbow surgery.

I undertake primary, complex and revision shoulder arthroplasty in the young and elderly, and regularly receive tertiary referrals from other shoulder specialists. I have a very large arthroscopic, arthroplasty and trauma practice. I also have a special interest in shoulder injuries as well as degenerative conditions of the shoulder and elbow.

I am currently the clinical lead for elective shoulder and elbow surgery at The Nottingham Shoulder & Elbow Unit, Nottingham City Hospital and the clinical lead for shoulder trauma at the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, Queens Medical Centre. I set up and run the East Midlands Specialist Orthopaedic Network for Shoulder & Elbow Arthroplasty.

I am a Member of the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), at Loughborough University where I have a regular clinic. The NCSEM is an Olympic legacy project delivering education, research and clinical services in sport, exercise and physical activity. I regularly review elite athletes with sports injuries.

I have active roles in audit, research, teaching and training. My research interests include acute rotator cuff tears, shoulder injuries in athletes, proximal humeral fractures and shoulder arthroplasty. I am a Clinical Investigator for a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) shoulder studies.
